With the break in the weather we've been able to push forward and complete our latest project. This has been a great one to work on as we worked with the client to define a new space at the rear of the property. The new curved walls give an informal feel to the new lower and upper level patios which marries with the feel of the rest of the garden.
Using curves in this garden really added an extra element to the design. Whilst the curves look simple in reality they take time to create in brickwork and to cut into the slabs. But the extra work is really worth it. Curves are great at drawing the eye through a space and the sinuous lines give a sense of continuity to the different areas throughout the garden.
New steps leading from the lower level patio up to the new paved area work really well ensuring the clients will get maximum use from the new levels. The sandstone paving was a great choice, the natural hues and random sizes work well with the general feel of the garden and the colour ties in well with the new brick walls.
At the very top of the garden was an area that although a great sun trap was underused by the client. We created a new patio area with raised sleeper planter beds. This now usable area gives the client and visitors a reason to explore the whole garden. And with the bench in place our clients can now enjoy the last of the evening sun.
On a practical note both side paths have been paved and new fencing installed along one side of the property. This has really smartened these areas and provided a neat position for the old oil tank. The rain did creep in on the final day hence the wet look pictures. More images can be found in our galleries and I'll be back to take more in the dry as soon as possible.
The clients were over the moon with the new garden and we are really pleased with the finished project. Simple but effective this is now a good looking and practical space. On to the next one and fingers crossed their weather continues!
